Another AMHS milestone in the Middle East

General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia contracted COMSOFT to implement AMHS in Jeddah.

KARLSRUHE, GERMANY, September 2008 – The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia awarded a contract to German ATC/ATM specialist COMSOFT for the supply of their new Automatic Message Handling System (AMHS) as part of their future re-structuring plans of the Saudi FIR.

Eng. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Salmi, Vice President Air Navigation Services specifies the details: “We have launched a program to divide the air traffic load between Jeddah and Riyadh in order to split responsibilities for upper and lower air space. For this project we need enhanced AFTN/CIDIN/AMHS technology for our ground-to-ground communication infrastructure in accordance with all valid ICAO standards.

This installation sets another benchmark regarding AMHS technology in the Middle East. COMSOFT already paved the way in the region to make neighbouring countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Oman AMHS-ready. A further AMHS installation of the same brand is underway in Egypt. The main hub of the AMHS for GACA will be installed in coastal Jeddah, consisting of COMSOFT’s message switch AIDA-NG and the AMHS terminal solution CADAS.
