EATMP Communication Gateway
EUROCONTROL's European Communications Gateway (ECG) is a gateway that – combined with the suitable hardware – allows the migration from conventional ATSP ground-ground communications systems based on legacy technologies to newer technologies, such as X.400. It hence facilitates effcient migration to an Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) or to an ATN-compliant environment. Since communication with other systems in neighbouring countries is simplified, ECG has the potential of further advancing the harmonisation in Europe's Air Traffic Control ("Single Sky").

ECG, being a pan-European initiative guided by EUROCONTROL, provides solutions to all demands named by Eurocontrol and its member states and therefore reflects real user requirements.

EUROCONTROL authorised French STNA and German DFS, and their respective industrial partners Thales IS and COMSOFT to develop an ECG system. Therefore, there exist two genuine ECG systems that were tested and accepted by EUROCONTROL. Other systems claiming to be "compliant to the ECG requirements" and "interoperable with ECG" have neither been tested nor authenticated by EUROCONTROL. COMSOFT has developed ECG even further, and all instances of COMSOFT's AMHS product AIDA-NG have incorporated ECG.
